Santhosh Andrade is acknowledged to play with narratives and stories of the city he grew up. He fills his canvas with greenery, rooftops, folklores, and the culture of Mangalore which is now taken over by rapid urbanization. Andrade in his painting experiments with different techniques to arrive at the desired color, such as the use of multiple translucent and transparent layering. Textures are created to give a rusty look to remind his viewers of the old houses and conventional household items. Canvases are collocation of traditional lives versus the urbanized contemporary living, the old versus the new. He uses realism to depict his memories of growing up in a semi-urban town and his cultural heritage.
