Liminal Land

Sridharamurthy A. has visualized a magical world. This is a world where forces of gravity work selectively, and unseen forces uproot and move things; a space where stillness and force coexist. It is filled with deep ravines, secretive wells and natural formations. This is a grey world where time has become uncertain. It is difficult to grasp what time of the day, season, or year it is. No specific vegetation or geographical indicators exist either. Going by the visual clues provided, it feels like things are coming apart and the world is unravelling. A sense of wonder and dismay pervade the air simultaneously.

Along with the floating natural elements, there are many objects/forms that suggest traces of life, human presence and divinity. An urn-like form can be seen in some works.Egg-like forms which suggest potential beginnings or birth are also seen. Lotus flowers, the embodiment of enlightenment, are sighted. All these elements suggest metaphysical readings to what would have remained a purely physical occurrence. Their mere presence advocates deeper meanings beyond the material realm.
